Three friends play a sci fi warfare game known as "Alpha Dogs", a co-op warfare game that crosses robotech with global agenda and furries. The game covers a war in the fictional Gemini System between the Serian Empire and the Dun'raku Rebellion. After completing the final level on the hardest difficulty--assaulting the flagship of the cruel Erenia Blackstar, they each receive an invitation to the game designer's personal suite for personal praise. Arriving in his personal car, they are immediately sent into space into the Gemini System. It is there at Seria that they find out the game is a training simulator to recruit fresh combatants into Serian Military service. The events in the game are based on actual history; in fact, ten years have passed since the fall of Erenia Blackstar. Insidious events, however, have arisen that leads intelligence to suspect war is on the horizon once again.

History behind Gemini's Space Age, Rise of the Serian Empire and The Fall of the Dun'Raku Rebellion

Seria's Space Age was fast and progressive, driven by a united desire to explore the farthest reaches of space, starting with the Gemini System. Eventually, Serian colonies were established on Cruxen and Fryst, with the latter establishing an expanded space port for a much grander plan. A team of colonists would be launched to Duc where it would exchange orbits with the system's neighboring star, Poll'x. The process would take 50 years and the colonists would be cryogenically frozen during the trip.

Ten years after the orbit's completion, contact was received from the planet Erakk that the Serian Colonists had succeeded in landing, settling, and learning about their neighbors, the Felis. By then, faster than light travel was becoming commonplace. An interstellar network of hyperspace traffic was soon constructed to close the gap between the systems.

Time passed and life was easy for a while. In time, however, Erakk grew restless and weary of being considered an extension of the Serian Empire. Under the command of Erenia Blackstar, a unified army of Felis and Serians formed the Dun'Raku(Meaning "Blood Dunes") Rebellion, declaring their independence from the Serian Empires. Out of desire to keep the system united, the Serian Empire engaged in war to bring down this insurrection.

Eventually, lack of trade and an economic collapse demoralized the Dun'raku Rebels, despite having far superior military officers and training. The death of their leader in her own flagship was the last nail in the coffin, bringing the few rebels who still fought back in line. An uneasy truce was made and strict laws and regulations were enforced to ensure this never happened again.

It has been ten years since then...

The Gemini System is a binary star system composed of its two stars, Cast'r and Poll'x. The distance between these two suns is equivalent to 50 astronomical units--about the same distance between Makemake and Sol from our own system. They are locked perfectly with one another and have a distinct, mechanical system of multiple orbits. Each star has its own planets orbiting around it with a couple planets that they share orbital paths with. They will be listed now.

Krexzov - A cold gas jovian that orbits the far outer rim of the genesis system, it plays a vital role in the absorption of cosmic objects from outer space. The planet possesses ten moons, all ice-rock based and primordial in nature.

Elde'rakk - The closest planet orbiting Poll'x, it is a hot, scorching volcanic piece of work. It is impossible to settle on this planet.

Erakk - The second and farthest planet in orbit around Poll'x, it is a desert planet characterized by badlands, vast dunes, gouging mountains, some arid grasslands, and few sources of open water. Water would be gathered at the polar ice caps or by drilling in dried up creeks and river beds in the badlands. Other than that, it's a planet quite comfortable and capable of sustaining life. This is also the home of the feline race, the Felis.

Erakk has a moon of its own known as Sur'nik(meaning "Blue Light"). Due to the blue haze of the planet's atmosphere, from the surface, the moon has a very blue hue. The moon itself is not capable of sustaining life, but colonies have been established on it since to house Erakk's growing population.

Duc - This planet has a unique orbit where it exchanges orbits between Cast'r and Pill'x every 165 years. After a year around Poll'x, however, it returns into its long, elliptical orbit around Cast'r. uring its time around the smaller star system, it is within the habitable zone of a star. Tragically, the 166 figure eight orbit has made it impossible for it to sustain any kind of life for very long. The planet is essentially primordial in nature: Pockets of atmosphere--nitrogen, methane, carbon dioxide. The planet might have been much richer in liquid methane and water at one point, but all of it evaporated and dissipated into space ages ago, leaving jagged pockets of iron-silicate rock here and there. The probability of any form of life is slim to none.

Fryst - The fourth and farthest planet from the orbit of Cast'r, it is essentially an arctic world; an ice desert planet where very little could survive. There is enough atmosphere to contain the tremendous amount of ice found here and terraforming has been slow but gradual. Eventually, the planet's violent snowstorms will begin to subside in an estimated 20 years. A mining facility and a spaceport have been built here and have seen use for a long time.

Fryst is home to two small moons, Jord and Borgen. Their orbit is hard to follow from the planet surface.

Seria - The third planet from the orbit of Cast'r, the planet is comparable to that of Earth. Continents, plant life and whatnot is somewhat different, but a human being could step foot on the planet and not asphyxiate. Teeming with liquid water oceans and with a breathable atmosphere, this is the homeworld to the canine race, the Serians.

Seria has a moon of its own, which is smaller than Mercury from our own solar system. Housing a few colonies here and there, it is key to quite a few functions such as tidal waves and more.

Cruxen - The second planet from the orbit of Cast'r, it is a hot, scorching wasteland obscured by carbon dioxide and several kinds of poisonous gases. Nothing can live there but the place is rich in precious metals, minerals and gases that can help to fuel colonizing. Machines are the only things that set foot on the planet, unfortunately. The conditions aren't quite right for any organic to stay there, Felis and Serian alike.

Any actual "citizens" of Cruxen settle on the planet's moon, Sylphen. Why no bigger than our own moon and certainly no better at sustaining life, it is certainly more hospitable than the planet itself.

Ignis - The first and closest planet from the orbit of Cast'r, it is a hot, scorching planet. It is impossible to settle on this planet.
A basic reconstruction of Furry Dream Number 04 from the DA journal I put up some time ago. :D This is a cool, fun setting I hope to enjoy real soon. ^.^

Alpha Dogs is only a working title. If you can come up with a better one, let me know! ^.^

Alpha Dogs sounds pretty close to an existing crime-drama film. But I find the concept of a sci-fi anthro warfare game to be nice and cool. Perhaps some more exposition onto the characters might give it more context? :)

(How about the name "Dogfighters"? Because it's like a word play on the "Dogfight" theme used in classic Macross, and actual dogs)
